On the 11th June 2019, Glenfield Park School students attended a work readiness program to help build their confidence and prepare them for job interviews.

Relieving Assistant Principal Miss Clinch and School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) Mrs MacDonald organised the event and completed necessary documents on behalf of the students in order for them to attend.

Dress For Success in Marrickville assisted our students in the workshop. They also provide opportunity for haircuts, make-up tips and one-on-one personal stylist sessions to ensure students look their best. This particular workshop involved lessons on presentation and the effect body language can have on obtaining a position.

The girls were very engaged with the program and were quite shocked to find out that how you look on social media and even your message bank details could affect your chances of getting a job.

The workshop, set up in a boutique style setting, required students to complete an activity where they pick an appropriate work outfit from a rack of clothes, including handbag and shoes. The girls were assisted by a personal stylist and received two work-appropriate outfits, shoes, jewellery, handbag and make up for free.

Dress for Success has a multitude of businesses that support their mission with new and used attire for work readiness. This program is available to women in need in New South Wales and provides free-of-charge professional clothing, a network of support and career development tools.

Last year, our male students attended the Ready For Work  program which is run by Metro Assist in Bankstown. This program will be made available again for our male student later in 2019.
