Learning for Life expectations

We follow the learning for life program at our school which encourages students to be safe, respectful learners.

Be safe

In all settings and classroom our expectations are:

  • follow staff directions
  • keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
  • walk and stay in the correct area.

In the playground our expectations are:

  • sticks and stones belong on the ground
  • hat on, play on.

In the taxi our expectations are:

  • wear your seat belt
  • wait in the correct area until called
  • stay seated with all body parts inside taxi.

Be respectful

In all settings and classroom our expectations are:

  • respond to your name
  • use kind words and actions
  • respect property.

In the playground our expectations are:

  • put litter in the bin
  • be a good sport.

In the taxi our expectations are:

  • speak respectfully using an inside voice
  • greet and thank driver.

Be a learner

In all settings and classroom our expectations are:

  • give new things a go
  • try your best
  • ask for and accept help.

In the playground our expectation is:

  • play by the agreed rules.

In the taxi our expectation is:

  • Follow staff directions.

We have our behaviour expectations posted around the school in all the relevant settings. 

Recognising student achievements

We use a money reward system across the school to reward students for following school expectations. This system provides educational and life skills to our students earning, recording and saving money.

Students can earn between 200-250 Learning for Life dollars per week and these can be traded at various times at the teacher’s discretion.

Glenfield Park School has set up staff guidelines to follow when awarding dollars to ensure fairness and consistency for all students. Students are rewarded at the end of each session. They are supplied with bank folders to record earnings, spending and savings made.

Reward system

Students can spend their Learning for Life dollars on Excursions, Learner lunch, Swimming, iPad and Computer time, Movie afternoon, Pool room time, free time or to visit Executive staff.

Assembly awards

Each week, students may earn awards. Each award is worth Learning for Life dollars: 

  • Learner of The Week = 50 learning for life dollars 
  • Learner, Respectful and Safe Awards = 20 learning for life dollars 
  • Sports Award = 20 learning for life dollars 
  • Integration Award = 50 learning for life dollars 
  • Catch me being good = 20 learning for life dollars.
