Trauma informed practice
At Glenfield Park School, Trauma-Informed Practice is embedded as a whole-school approach, ensuring every student is supported through understanding, empathy, and connection. Our staff implement child-centred, relationship based strategies that recognise behaviour as a form of communication, particularly for students with a history of trauma.
Through consistent, positive daily interactions, we focus on building strong, trusting relationships that foster emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Predictable routines, calm boundaries, and unconditional positive regard help students feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Our educators use empathetic listening and reflective responses to strengthen each student’s sense of belonging and security. By meeting students with understanding and care, we reduce anxiety and negative behaviour patterns, creating a supportive environment where every learner can thrive.
